Paul Wurth rewards innovation with the Paul Wurth Award

For the second year running Paul Wurth organized on 3 May 2016 its ceremony of the Paul Wurth Award in Luxembourg. The purpose of this award is to encourage and honour young talents who contributed their Master thesis to the scientific advancement of energy-related and environmental issues. The competition is part of Paul Wurth’s principle of continuous innovation and technological advance of its products and technologies.

After a preliminary decision, the three most pertinent theses of 2015 were presented in front of the Paul Wurth jury, composed by members of the management board, engineers and the human resources department. This year, the selected candidates put a special emphasis on issues of electric mobility, motor technology and energy management systems. The Paul Wurth Award includes a cash grant of EUR 2,000 for the first, EUR 1,500 for the second and EUR 1,000 for the third winner.

The first prize this year goes to Jér?me Poos, who completed his Master studies at RWTH Aachen in the field of physics, nano electronics and energy technology. The second and third prizes are awarded to Michel Haag from the Technical University of Munich and to Charles Theis who studied at the ETH Zurich.

At the end of the ceremony CEO Georges Rassel concluded that people are the most valuable asset and therefore, the support of young talents is an important challenge for Paul Wurth. In this context, Paul Wurth wants to promote students with the same understanding of innovation than we have and focuses on current themes around the field of energy and environment. He congratulated the three selected talents on their excellent work and the innovating and advancing results they could achieve.
